If you are from outside the European Area and you are on a course lasting more than six months, you should be able to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time and full-time in vacations.

Non-EU students with a visitor’s visa are not allowed to work.

They should be able to work without needing permission provided that they entered the UK as your dependant and you have permission to stay in the UK for twelve months or more.

If you work in the UK you will have to pay National Insurance (NI) contributions in the same way as UK residents. It is your responsibility to apply for an NI number before you take up employment. You should apply for this at your local Department of Social Security Office - the address of this Office depends on where you live and may be obtained from a local Business Telephone Directory. You will need to present your passport and give details of your proposed employment. You may have to wait  before you are allocated an NI number, but you may start work at any time after you have applied for one. More information can be obtained from click here.
